Palmerston North Story

This is the centre piece for my 2006 solo exhibition at Taylor Jenson Fine Art gallery Palmerston North. The City Library bought it and it is displayed there today. I was teaching part time in the art department at Girls High School at the time, and the drive to work down Fitzherbert Avenue focused my attention on the Massey hill. This is what inspired me to paint the city from this perspective for the first time. I had to leave a space blank in the middle of the painting for quite some time as the jury was still out on what the top of the clock tower was to be. Once the decision was made the council was provided me with a picture of the plans so I was able to finish the painting on time.
