It wasn’t until I’d left home that the Waimarea finally got restored and re birthed, but it was like the heart coming back into the town. From Mum and Dads place we see her trek up and down each day and hear the steam whistle blowing. At the opening of the Wanganui solo exhibition for my Wanganui collection I had two couples, both neighbours whose houses feature in this painting who couldn’t decide which of them was to get the painting. They magnanimously decided to toss a coin for it. The looser commissioned another but had more details they wanted added, and I think theirs ended up being the better of the two.
